Colorado Springs Utilities is postponing a prescribed burn planned for the north slope of Pikes Peak until 2016. The burn, scheduled for mid October, would have been the first by Utilities since 2010, and would have targeted an area surrounding North Catamount Reservoir. Utilities' burn plans have been on hold for years following the 2012 Lower North Fork fire, a state-run prescribed burn that got out of control, and went on to destroy more than two dozen homes and kill three people.
