Incomes in the Colorado Springs area, measured on per-person basis, rose last year by the highest percentage since 2011, mostly as a result of big gains in retiree income, according to a report released Thursday by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. The area's income per person increased 3.5 percent, or $1,409, from 2013 to nearly $42,000, after declining 0.2 percent from the previous year, the agency said. The gain is the biggest since in the area since income per person grew 4.2 percent in 2011 to nearly $40,000. The national average for 2014 rose 3.6 percent from 2013 to $46,049.
