A water main break Monday morning has shut down traffic on northbound North Union Boulevard between North Academy Boulevard and Tomah Drive in northeast Colorado Springs, according to Colorado Springs Utilities. Springs Utilities workers have started work on fixing the problem, said company spokesman Mark Murphy. The area will be closed until about mid-afternoon. An aging, 8-inch cast-iron pipe might have caused the break, but Murphy said that is "only speculation" at this time. The water has been shut off, he added. Springs Utilities ask drivers to avoid the area and find alternative routes. Police reported the road closures about 5 a.m. Read more on Colorado Springs Gazette ......
