Firefighters put out a fire above a local business early Tuesday morning, according to Gazette news partner KKTV. The cause is under investigation. Fire crews were called to the OCC Smoke Shop in Old Colorado City around 1:10 a.m., KKTV said. Firefighters spotted smoke and flames at the back of the building. The fire was out in about 30 minutes. A spokesperson from the Colorado Springs Fire Department told KKTV that the fire may have started in an empty apartment above the smoke shop. Fire investigators worked at the scene early Tuesday to find the exact source of the fire, KKTV said. Westbound lanes of Colorado Avenue were closed temporarily during the investigation.
